Moringa Project ECO VITA has initiated is based on the idea that interdependency creates a synergetic relationship that benefit everyone. We have thus created and implanted an aggressive strategy to create sustainable communities starting from Ghana and Paraguay where Moringa is grown. We work with NGOs such as Shape Lives Foundation in Ghana and Association for the Sustainable Development in South America to develop communities through cultivating their Moringa resources.

Characteristics of our projects is that we directly work with local Moringa farmers through NGOs, instead of going through brokers to import Moringa herbs to the U.S. and Japan. By doing so, ECO VITA receives Moringa from a reliable source, and is able to enhance and expand business, while the communities providing Moringa are able to expand their business. Through this project, we hope to develop a partnership that is mutually beneficial for business and well-being of our partners and affiliates.

Alexander at Shape Lives Foundation has testified his experience with this project which can be viewed at: http://moringafact.com/2009/06/shape-live-foundation-an-update-from-ghana-%e2%80%93-part-1/

We reported this project to U.N Global Compact and this project convinced U.N Global Compact to allow ECO VITA to be a member of the organization. U.N Global Compact is a policy initiative for a businesses that are committed to aligning their operation and strategies with the U.N’s ten universally accepted principles.

Instead of making charitable contributions towards human development projects, we rather establish a real business relationship with Moringa farmers. We have developed a social venture which is designed to benefit the local community for the long-term instead of ad hoc contributions which only sustains them in the short-term. First of all, we made sure that the product produced by farmers would meet a high standard that would be tradable and met international trading criteria. We advised and gave a fund Shape Lives Foundation to go through sterilization treatment prior for the product to be exported to the U.S. which was unprecedented in Ghana due to having had inadequate financial stability. We believe in the importance of adding value to the product in order to benefit the local suppliers.
