A recent report by Carlo Suerte Filipe of the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation, showed a Mass Wedding in Mandaluyong for 84 live-in couples. Participants such as “Arturo Gojar and Merlinda Llamera, who have been living together for over 34 years with five kids, can now officially call themselves husband and wife.”
Served at the wedding were “84 nutri-cake rolls, chiffon cakes which contained malunggay [moringa] leaves, lined up to form the shape of a heart which the newly-weds simultaneously cut and ate.”
“The activity, initiated by the Kababaihan Kakaiba ng Mandaluyng, chaired by Mandaluyong First Lady Menchie Abalos, aims to help and promote live-in partners to get legally married for free.”
