Retired Engineers Volunteer to Help Food & Clean Water Production
A recent story discovered by PoliticsInMinennesota.com reported on a group of (mostly) retired engineers (working with conjunction with Compatible Technologies International) gathering to brainstorm and produce products to help aid developing countries.
The group most notably developed and built a hand generated product that increases yields of food production, cleans water using cost efficient methods, and even contributes to the development and production of Moringa. “A $100 chlorinator designed by a retired Minneapolis water department employee cleans water for Central American villages of around 1,000 people for a monthly cost of just $5, Salway says. A solar dehydrator in Ghana helps dry Moringa tree leaves by reducing their moisture content from 65 percent to 9 percent, a level where it can be ground up into a powdered food supplement to nourish children.”
