The Billion Trees Program
The Manila Standard Today recently reviewed a story discussing the Billion Trees Program. This program has been established by the Bucor Love Foundation and Trees for Life Foundation to combat the increasing levels of Carbon Dioxide in our environment.
Unlike other Green Movements, the Billion Trees Program recruits prisoners to increase the well-being of the world. To date, inmates have produced in three months 50,000 seedlings of narra, mahogany and malunggay at the prison compound.
Sponsor FedEx is committed to the project, as the Standard writes, ““FedEx is committed to the well-being of both the environment and the children in our community,” said Rhicke Jennings, managing director, FedEx Express Australasia. “We are excited about this opportunity to spend time caring for both. FedEx believes that educating and inspiring children is vital to our future, and in this case, we hope to inspire our children to care for our environment.””
